As a big believer in the power of technology to transform human life, I’m both amazed and a little scared of how much my own personal life is mediated via digital tools. Given the absolute profusion of digital interfaces & systems today, in my opinion it is urgent that the tools we use as individuals and members of families, communities & citizens and residents of countries be

• Fast - that’s the whole point of computing & automation. There is no real reason for any app you use to not be instant.
• Privacy & Data Portability - Your data should be portable, easily exportable & as far as possible completely opaque to the servers of the tools that you use. I’m aware of the trade off with speed but I’m happy that Signal is leading the way today
• Beautiful - Again, there is no reason for your apps to not look pleasant & be a joy to use.

Ive stayed away from B2B, SaaS kind of stuff because I’m a bit saturated with it at my day job but there’s no reason that those products also could not follow the above principles.
